Role Description

Anchor Planning is seeking an experienced Medical Equipment Planner to join our growing healthcare consulting team. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare providers, architects, engineers, contractors, and clinical stakeholders to plan and coordinate medical equipment for new hospitals, renovations, ambulatory care facilities, and expansion projects across the country.

As a Medical Equipment Planner, you will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the planning process, helping clients make informed equipment decisions while ensuring equipment requirements are fully coordinated with facility design, budgets, schedules, and operational workflows. You will play an integral role in delivering successful healthcare projects by balancing clinical needs, design coordination, cost management, and project execution.

Requirements

  • Experience planning healthcare construction, renovation, or expansion projects.
  • Strong understanding of hospital operations, clinical workflows, and departmental functions.
  • Experience evaluating medical equipment for reuse, replacement, and new procurement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, clinicians, architects, engineers, contractors, and healthcare leadership.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of healthcare design, construction sequencing, and project delivery.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage medical equipment planning activities for multiple healthcare projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate room-by-room equipment planning for hospitals, ambulatory facilities, and specialty care environments.
  • Develop and maintain medical equipment budgets, equipment inventories, planning reports, and project deliverables.
  • Evaluate existing equipment to determine opportunities for reuse, replacement, or relocation.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify risks that could impact equipment planning activities.
  • Support implementation of project delivery strategies established by the Project Manager or Planning Lead.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients throughout the planning process.
  • Lead planning meetings with clinical users to understand operational workflows and equipment requirements.
  • Recommend medical equipment solutions that support clinical operations, patient care, and project objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Confidently represent Anchor Planning during client meetings and presentations.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings throughout the design process.
  • Coordinate equipment requirements with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology disciplines.
  • Identify equipment and design conflicts early to minimize redesign and construction impacts.
  • Coordinate vendor utility drawings, equipment specifications, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate medical equipment information with BIM/Revit models and support model coordination reviews.
  • Develop equipment lists and procurement documentation.
  • Source equipment pricing and assist with comparative evaluations.
  • Support procurement activities, purchase order tracking, and equipment coordination.
  • Coordinate vendor activities throughout equipment delivery, installation, and operational readiness.
  • Assist with equipment phasing, logistics planning, and final equipment verification.
  • Coordinate with project team members and mentor junior planners as needed.
  • Share lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support proposal development, business development activities, and educational presentations.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Anchor Planning's standards, templates, and best practices.
