Role Description
This is a remote position. Virtual Rockstar is hiring a full-time Medical Billing & Credentialing Virtual Assistant on behalf of a growing mental health counseling practice. This role will provide administrative, billing, credentialing, and insurance support to help ensure smooth operations across a large team of providers. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working with billing processes, therapist credentialing, patient communication, and administrative workflows. Key Responsibilities

Billing & Insurance Support

Review client billing and insurance billing activities

Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on billing-related issues

Generate and format billing-related documentation and reports

Follow up on unpaid claims and billing discrepancies

Track and update expired insurance information
-
Support insurance-related administrative processes
-
Assist with maintaining accurate billing records

Credentialing Support
-
Follow up on therapist credentialing applications and renewals
-
Monitor credentialing status and communicate updates to providers
-
Maintain organized credentialing records and documentation
-
Coordinate with credentialing organizations and insurance networks as needed

Track deadlines and ensure timely follow-up

Administrative Support

Manage email correspondence and ticketing systems

Set up and maintain email accounts and fax accounts
-
Monitor and organize incoming communications
-
Manage electronic records and administrative documentation
-
Perform data entry and generate reports as needed
-
Assist with operational and process-improvement initiatives

Patient & Provider Support

Respond professionally to patient inquiries via phone and email

Assist with insurance and billing-related questions

Communicate effectively with providers and administrative staff

Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times

Support a positive patient experience through timely and professional communication
Qualifications

Experience in medical billing, insurance billing, or healthcare administration

Experience with provider credentialing or willingness to learn credentialing processes

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Comfortable communicating with patients, providers, and insurance representatives

Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability

Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications
