Role Description

The Medical Assistant is the first contact for patient care, responsible for administrative responsibilities in addition to patient care. The Medical Assistant 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments, typically working on semi-routine assignments.

• Discuss symptoms and obtain vital signs.
• Administer medications and vaccines.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Conduct diagnostic screening tests.
• Sterilize and clean equipment.
• Maintain examination rooms.
• Document information into the electronic medical records system.
• Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
• Deliver direct patient care dependent on active certification.
• Make decisions focusing on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments.
• Work within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards.
• Follow standard procedures allowing for interpretation/deviation and independent work.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certified.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered – (Arizona, Indiana, and South Carolina candidates require Medical Assistant Certification or Registration).
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Medication/vaccine administration experience.
• 1+ years MA experience.
• Value-based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, Certified Phlebotomy Technician/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam before foreign language communication.
• Work at Home Requirements: Minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection suggested.
• Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$43,000 - $56,200 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
