Role Description
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical coding leader looking to advance their career with a highly collaborative Revenue Cycle team. We're seeking a Manager of Coding who is passionate about developing people, improving operational performance, and ensuring coding excellence across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set daily priorities, monitor accounts not coded, train and support coding specialists in assigning diagnoses and procedure codes for billing and statistical purposes.

Train, instruct, and provide support to coding, charge entry and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams regarding coding compliance, regulatory provisions, and/or third-party payer requirements.

Supervise, hire, train, onboard, evaluate, and develop staff through professional development, performance feedback, and coaching.

Develop reports and analyze data to identify areas for improvement, recommend solutions, and solve complex problems.

Ability to set and track benchmarks; meets goals set by leadership related to the revenue cycle.

Clearly communicates goals, expectations, and needs of the department and organization.

Promotes an environment of teamwork and service excellence within the department.

Works with all levels of management in analyzing new services, departments, or reengineering of departments.

Ensures coordination of coding between HIM and chargemaster.

Assists in coding-related denial resolution and provides coding-related information needed to resolve root cause issues impacting AR and collection rate goals.

Works cooperatively with other Revenue Cycle managers to analyze coding practices and ensure compliance with applicable industry rules and regulations.

Plans, develops, and deploys coding education across the organization.

Develops and remains accountable to budgets related to assigned cost centers.

Insures compliance with regulatory and contract standards related to charging and coding.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and build a strong team.

Ability to function independently and deal with multiple, simultaneous projects.

Aptitude to recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and develop goals for professional growth and achievement.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Business Administration, etc.).

In lieu of education, 7-10 years of experience within revenue cycle operations.

5-7 years supervisory experience with proven ability to oversee subordinates.

Certification in billing or coding represented by any of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-H.
