[Hiring] Manager, Clinical Informatics @Mackenzie Health

Role Description

We are seeking a results-oriented and strategic Manager, Clinical Informatics to lead a diverse team and provide strategic and operational leadership to support Mackenzie Health’s largest digital asset – the Epic EMR (Electronic Medical Record). This role will provide leadership to ensure adoption and optimization of the system that aligns with the organizational strategic priorities to deliver patient quality and safety.

• Oversee the design, build, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Epic EMR system.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders and subject matter experts to support decision-making, education, ongoing evaluation, maintenance, and upgrading of clinical systems and technologies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of application analysts.
• Translate organizational strategy into actionable digital health initiatives and system configuration and enhancements.
• Manage support, maintenance, and installation of all clinical applications.
• Partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify opportunities for workflow and system improvements.
• Ensure information is available to clinicians, managers, and directors to enhance clinical care and patient health outcomes.
• Manage daily operations of the Clinical Informatics department.
• Provide recommendations and guidance regarding streamlining workflows and best practices.
• Monitor and maintain overall Epic system design and configuration.
• Responsible for hiring, managing, and coaching team members.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support for major systems software and hardware.
• Translate the strategy plan into operations and ensure progress through milestones and metrics.
• Coordinate and prioritize operations including continuous service in the event of service outages.
• Build on existing customer service systems and develop a proactive culture.
• Act as an expert resource for management, clinicians, and specialists.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate level degree in a Health Discipline and/or Informatics, healthcare administration, or other related field required.
• Experience with Epic EMR system strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in an acute healthcare setting preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of the use of Information Technology in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated initiative, excellent organization, and time management skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
• Professional and customer service oriented.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at various stages of development.
• Able to work in a multisite model and travel between two locations.
• Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent is an asset.
• Diploma or degree in a regulated healthcare profession is an asset.
• Licensure with relevant discipline college/association is an asset.
• Project Management (PMP) and/or ITIL Certification is an asset.
