Role Description
As the Centralized Scheduler Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you provide clinical oversight to the Central Scheduling Team to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. You practice within the full scope of your licensure while supporting continuity, safety, and quality of care for patients and their families. You identify situations that require clinical judgment or decision making and appropriately escalate these concerns to leadership or the clinician. Through your guidance, you help foster a patient-centered scheduling process that promotes efficiency, accuracy, and overall well-being.

Department: Hematology/Oncology/Infusion (Scheduling for Atrius Health)

Schedule: Full time, 40HRS Weekly M-F 8:30am-5pm

Qualifications
-
Graduate from a state-approved school of practical nursing
-
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Requirements

Infusion therapies (e.g., biologics, IV hydration, specialty medications)
-
Pre-infusion requirements such as labs, prior authorizations, and clinical screening
-
Experience in ambulatory care, specialty care, or infusion services is preferred
-
Ability to interpret clinical documentation to ensure appropriate scheduling and patient readiness

Maintains proficiencies in role-specific procedures as defined in organizational LPN competencies

Proficiency with electronic scheduling systems (Epic or similar platforms)

Ability to coordinate complex, multi-step appointments (infusion chair time, nursing coverage, pre-infusion labs)

Solid organizational skills with attention to accuracy and timing

Experience managing high volume scheduling workflows

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team

Professional, patient-centered approach when interacting with patients and families

Communicates any pertinent information to the relevant members of the health care team verbally and/or through medical record. Maintains patient confidentiality

Under established protocols or under specific clinician direction, communicates with patients or family regarding specific test results or follow-up plans

Ability to identify scheduling conflicts, clinical concerns, or missing prerequisites

Sound judgment in escalating clinical questions to appropriate providers

Capacity to work independently while maintaining alignment with clinical protocols

Participates in organizational and departmental process improvement activities

Hourly pay for this role will range from $20.38 to $36.44 per hour based on full-time employment
