Role Description

Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, the Intensive In-Community (IIC) Therapist plays a key role in delivering high-quality psychotherapeutic services to youth and their families. Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Diagnosis:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the child or adolescent and their family dynamics.
    • Identify behavioral, emotional, and psychological challenges.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
    • Review referral information and contact the youth/family within 48 hours of assignment.
    • Document referral sources and communicate with the referring care manager to review the youth’s history and needs.
  • Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Provide weekly individual therapy to youth.
    • Offer clinical support and guidance to parents, guardians, and caregivers in the home setting.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other professionals involved in the client’s care, including treatment team members and referring agencies.
    • Maintain regular communication with the referring care manager to review progress, discuss ongoing service needs, and monitor authorization timelines.
  • Family Support and Education:
    • Educate family members on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and effective parenting techniques.
    • Encourage active family participation in the therapeutic process to promote positive outcomes.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and timely records of all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with agency policies and licensing regulations.
    • Submit all client-related paperwork monthly to the Director of Counseling Services.
    • Submit timesheets and completed/signed Service Delivery Forms for each face-to-face visit on a biweekly basis.
  • Supervision:
    • Participate in biweekly supervision with the Director of Counseling Services.
    • Free clinical supervision is available to therapists who maintain a minimum active caseload of six (6) clients.
  • Service Area:
    • Our greatest need is for candidates who can serve clients in Ocean County, NJ. We are also considering candidates who are available to serve clients in Monmouth and/or Middlesex County.
    • Candidates must be willing to travel to clients’ homes and community locations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a recognized mental health discipline.
  • Appropriate licensure or certification (LCSW, LPC, LSW, or LAC).

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders, behavioral interventions, and family systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex cases.
  • Familiarity with community resources and referral processes.
  • Comfort working in clients’ homes and community settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required for travel to client homes).
  • Successful completion of background checks and required clearances (e.g., criminal history, child abuse).
  • Maintenance of personal malpractice insurance coverage throughout employment.
