Role Description

The Medical Affairs Advisor/Manager role is an excellent opportunity to engage and collaborate with healthcare professionals and professional bodies to facilitate a medical and scientific bridge between Pfizer and the healthcare community.

We have one position available in Inflammation & Immunology (Dermatology, Gastroenterology, rheumatology and other chronic inflammatory diseases), with the opportunity to progress at Advisor to Manager level dependent on the breadth of experience for the successful candidates. The position allows the flexibility of the successful candidates to be based anywhere in the UK, working remotely.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide medical and scientific advice to healthcare professionals and professional bodies through scientific communications and assistance for clinical research.
  • Provide specialist medical, scientific and Code compliance advice to the nominated internal team(s) to promote the appropriate use of Pfizer medicines.
  • Build and develop enduring external relationships facilitating a medical and scientific bridge between Pfizer and the healthcare community.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to effectively convey and manage drug safety issues.
  • Comprehend customer insights around current standard of care and assist their knowledge of the value of our medicines to the NHS and patients.

Data Generation and Publication

  • Shape development program through insights from academic and clinical community and patients.
  • Generate and publish real-world data.
  • Acquire and maintain in-depth scientific knowledge of Pfizer medicines within nominated therapy area(s) as well as of key competitors.
  • Deliver the medical plan in relation to medical projects, Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) and assistance for Pfizer sponsored clinical research.
  • Ensure timely publication of data.

Support for Clinical Development

  • Provide medical/scientific input into protocol feasibility assessments for clinical trial proposals.
  • Identify appropriate investigators / sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Work collectively with clinical research colleagues to drive the timely completion of Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Provide input into the global clinical teams to ensure design and selection of trials relevant to UK needs.

Data Communication and Customer Insights

  • Convey the value of our medicines through high-quality, accurate, balanced and impactful information.
  • Provide high-quality, accurate, balanced and specific information to customers in reply to unsolicited requests for information.
  • Work with the cross-functional team in-country and above-country to develop impactful and compliant promotional and non-promotional materials.
  • Manage local advisory boards to gain customer insights.

Cross Functional Medical and Scientific Advice

  • Assist Access & Value in providing medical input for HTA dossiers and regional/local formularies.
  • Advise Regulatory Affairs in replying to questions from regulatory agencies.
  • Provide assistance for clinical overviews, core datasheet revisions, license variations and implementation of Risk Management Plans.
  • Provide scientific input to other departments on a project-by-project basis.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing cross-functional working relationships with Pfizer colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Business English.
  • Medical, Pharmacy or Science degree.
  • Expertise in Dermatology area or respiratory area.
  • For medical applicants, GMC registration with a License to Practice is preferred.
  • For pharmacy applicants, UK registration is preferred.
  • For scientists, a postgraduate science degree (e.g. PhD, MSc) is preferred.
