Maintain the integrity and accuracy of patient medical records across the University Health system

Identify, research, and resolve duplicate patient records using data integrity software and manual review processes

Perform person and encounter merges to ensure accurate and complete patient information

Collaborate with healthcare providers, staff, IT professionals, and HIM team members to resolve data integrity issues

Track and combine duplicate medical record numbers and financial identifiers across multiple applications

Conduct routine EMR audits, identify trends causing record errors, and communicate findings to HIM leadership

Integrate ambulance reports and analyze potential duplicate records to maintain accurate patient data

Match referral orders from separate software systems and register patients as needed to ensure referrals are directed appropriately

Update systems to reflect deceased patients based on notifications from internal departments and registries

Support HIM Informatics initiatives, department projects, process improvements, and operational goals as assigned

Work collaboratively with Cancer Registry staff to improve service efficiency and effectiveness

Consistently meet quality and productivity standards while maintaining a strong attention to detail

Promote quality improvement, patient safety, staff safety, and cultural diversity through daily work practices

Provide professional and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, and medical personnel at all times

Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, compliance standards, and training requirements
Qualifications

Associates Degree or High School Diploma with RHIT credential required

Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a healthcare system HIM department

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Self directed with strong time management skills and ability to work remotely

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment

Ability to use logical reasoning to follow procedures, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions
