Role Description

Looking for a motivated, experienced Health Information Management Tech (HIMS Tech) to join our talented Ambulatory Care HIMS Team. This position has a direct impact on patient care for our ambulatory care clinics, and facilitates importing patients' PHI documentation into Cerner. This team works in a variety of functions from document imaging, regulatory, etc.

Location: REMOTE. Supporting BMG clinics for West Valley Phoenix.

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday OR Wednesday - Sunday 7am - 3:30pm OR 8am - 4:30pm

Ideal Candidate will have at least 1 year experience in medical technology and/or HIMS clearly shown in updated resume.

You will be responsible for compiling, processing, and maintaining patients' medical records. HIMS Technicians will ensure all regulatory requirements of Banner are followed, as well as reconcile medical record activity, maintain records in centralized locations, retrieve charts, and scan, index, and validate records.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of health information practices and principles.
• Completion of one or more years of post-high school education in medical records and information systems OR high school diploma/GED with equivalent working knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats.
• Ability to inspect, read, and analyze written material.
• Good judgment, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong technical skills in the use of software applications and databases.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledgeable and proficient in accessing and utilizing all applicable EHR systems.

Requirements

• Conducts routine releases of health information in accordance with company policy and all state and federal laws.
• Reviews and analyzes health information typically through the use of electronic health record tools.
• Provides customer service and assistance related to HIMS departmental functions.
• Performs the document imaging function as required, including scanning, Quality Control, and Validation.
• Performs current and retrospective review of scanned documents.
• Assists with basic transcription issues and requests.
• Provides training for Dragon/voice recognition applications.
• Answers telephones and performs other duties as assigned by HIMS leadership.
