Role Description

Join Pebbles Care as Head of Psychology in our mission to lead the way in bespoke, therapeutic care and education for our young people. As the Head of Psychology, you will be responsible for overseeing the further development and implementation of Pebbles psychological programs and services to support our children, while working closely with our homes, education teams and external agencies.

Your role:

• Play a pivotal role in assessing, intervening, and providing therapeutic support for our children.
• Develop and implement models of practice that address the impact of traumatic development histories for some of the young people we support.
• Mentor and lead our team of in-house forensic psychologists who are currently in training.
• Support our assistant psychologist.
• Demonstrate a commitment to enhancing positive outcomes for the young people in our care and education, across our 56 homes and 3 schools.
• Work in close conjunction with our Commissioning Team and Registered Managers to facilitate Pebbles matching process.
• Oversee the assessment and formulation of care and risk plans for our Young People.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Psychology (2:1 or above).
• Master's degree in forensic/clinical psychology/psychotherapy or relevant medical degree/MBA/Senior Leadership Sector experience in children's social care (8 years+).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team and be motivated and able to be a lone worker.
• Able to work independently on all four core role competencies.

Requirements

• Post Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology (or relevant training in applied therapies) where relevant.
• Doctorate qualified and registered HCPC Forensic Psychology status (or working towards).
• Enrolled on the British Psychological Society Stage Two Forensic Psychologist programme or HCPC equivalent through an accredited University programme.
• Supervision experience for AP and FPiT with knowledge of stage two qualification routes.
• Experience of working directly with children and young people who have attachment and trauma difficulties.
• Experience of working and directing practice within residential and educational teams.
• Experience of carrying out and supporting qualitative and quantitative research.
• Excellent understanding of psychological and systemic theories and ability to apply these to practice.
