We're currently seeking an experienced Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist to join our growing team. This part-time, fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from home, create a schedule that works for you, and enjoy increased autonomy once quality and productivity expectations are consistently met.

In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in retrospective HCC coding to:

  • Review medical records
  • Abstract ICD-10-CM codes
  • Accurately capture diagnoses that map to HCC, RxHCC, and ESRD models

You'll work with advanced coding tools, including encoder software and access to AHA Coding Clinic resources, while collaborating with a team committed to excellence and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of recent retrospective HCC coding experience
  • 1 additional year of coding experience
  • Current AAPC or AHIMA credential required
  • Accepted credentials: CPC, CRC, COC, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P
  • Apprenticeship designations are not accepted

Requirements

  • Part-Time is 20-29 hours per week
  • Team members may work no less than 4-hour blocks at a time, M-F between the hours of 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM EST
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months of recent retrospective HCC coding experience PLUS 1 year of additional coding experience
  • A valid AAPC or AHIMA coding credential required
  • Acceptable credentials would be CPC, CRC, COC, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P
  • Will be required to maintain a quality score of 95% or higher
  • Will be required to maintain an ongoing productivity level based on project requirements
  • Review, analyze, and code patient medical records based on client specific guidelines
  • Follow ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines and interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment
  • Follow Risk Adjustment Data Abstraction Rules
  • Ensure individual compliance with all privacy and security rules and regulations
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with systems such as EMRs, Billing systems, abstraction platforms, etc.
  • Must have a phone and reliable internet connection
  • Team Member must be able to work from home and be independent in their coding skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft programs like Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and written
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by Leadership Team Member

Training

  • Training schedule is a required 9am-5pm EST Mon-Wed of the first week of employment
  • Part-Time (PT) New Hires must be available for coaching within a 4-hour block between 6:00 AM EST and 6:00 PM EST each day for the first 10 business days (Monday–Friday) after being released to the coding team

Physical Demands

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions as described. Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, Team Members are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, Team Member must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Team Member may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
