Role Description

The role involves supporting Hospital Based Inpatient Coding or Hospital Outpatient Surgical Coding.

• Monday - Friday, First shift, 40 hours a week.
• Remote opportunity available in specified states.
• Pay Range: $33.05 - $49.60

Major Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing coded health information records for quality and accuracy.
• Collaborating with coding leadership on focused diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Identifying coder education opportunities and trends.
• Reviewing encounters flagged for second level review.
• Participating in Clinical Documentation Improvement and Hospital Coding alignment process.
• Engaging in hospital coding denial and appeal processes.
• Investigating and resolving inquiries from billing office or patient accounts.
• Maintaining continuing education credits and credentials.

Qualifications

• Coding Specialist (CCS), Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in hospital coding.

Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
• Knowledge of NCCI edits and local/national coverage decisions.
• Expert knowledge in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems.
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Applications.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology.
• Excellent communication and reading comprehension skills.
• Demonstrated analytical aptitude with attention to detail.
• Experience with remote work force operations.
• Strong sense of ethics.
