Role Description
The Director, Medical Capabilities Lead will be responsible for leading the Medical Capabilities Team and functions, including but not limited to:

Congress planning

Medical information / MLR review

Content creation
-
Budget planning for the full company portfolio of products
Additionally, this individual will specifically lead the cross-functional coordination of:

Strategic planning medical congresses
-
Launch preparedness
-
Global alliance management
Along with ED, Medical Affairs, this individual will be a leader in building processes, systems, and operational efficiencies in support of the Medical Affairs team as part of a growing biotech company. Additional responsibilities will be identified based on team and business needs.
You will be responsible for:

Developing, launching, and maintaining capabilities, processes, and systems for the medical affairs team; conducting ongoing assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement to achieve operational efficiencies

Leading congress / conference strategy for the medical affairs team including medical booths, medical content, and educational symposiums
-
People management of Medical Capabilities Team, ensuring successful medical information/MLR and medical content deliverables and personnel development
-
Serving as medical leadership for MLR review escalations and ensuring proficient, efficient medical review process that meets business needs
-
Leading onboarding for Medical Affairs new team members
-
Leading Alliance Management with global commercial partners, including strategic alignment of medical activities and joint meetings
-
Managing medical affairs team meeting agendas and budget, ensuring team is efficient with resources and OPEX budget stays within approved amounts
-
Serving as point of contact for commercial operational and IT systems leads, including thoughtful integration of AI into medical affairs workstreams
-
Being a leader in the medical affairs team supporting team culture and strategic direction of activities within a growing biotech company
Qualifications
-
Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in a medical or science-related specialty, although significant experience in the medical field may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.

5+ years in biotech and/or pharma in medical roles of increasing responsibility; medical information experience strongly preferred

Oncology medical capabilities/ medical operations experience desired

Leadership of matrix teams or capabilities teams, including people management, desired

Drive and enthusiasm for operational improvements and proven innovation-oriented mindset

Team oriented and ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives

Ability to work independently with strong sense of accountability and ability to execute

Must be decisive, exercise good judgment in decisions, organized and with the ability to prioritize a large workload in a fast-paced environment

Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and sense of urgency

Strong problem-solving ability through insightful solutions which address complex issues

Ability to travel to Nuvation Bio Headquarters and professional congresses as appropriate (~25%).
