Work within a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model.

Deliver services to clients experiencing various levels of substance misuse and mental health issues.

Provide culturally appropriate treatment and case management services in person and/or virtually for Indigenous peoples.

Conduct independent substance use and mental health screening and comprehensive biopsychosocial-spiritual assessments.

Provide appropriate treatment/support including individual and group therapy, couples and family therapy, and education.

Establish and maintain non-judgmental therapeutic relationships with clients.

Collaborate and consult with colleagues and community resources, including Indigenous communities.

Participate in case conferences, team meetings, continuing education, and corporate initiatives.

Engage in ongoing team planning, development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Masters' Degree in a Behavioural Health Science from a recognized program.

Three years recent related experience working with Indigenous community health services.

Experience providing professional services to individuals with problematic substance misuse and/or mental health illness.

Comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills.

Broad knowledge of Indigenous healing modalities and cultures.

Knowledge of bio-psycho-social issues related to mental health and substance misuse.

Understanding of DSM IV diagnostic classification system and case formulation.

Knowledge of psychopharmacology and relevant legislation.

General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches.

Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and provide competent care.

Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
-
Ability to analyze and problem-solve in pressure situations.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system.
Requirements

This position is primarily remote, with service generally delivered in a virtual format.
-
Occasional travel to Bella Coola is required as part of the role.
-
Successful candidates must attend a VCH site for technical support and operational needs.

Travel will be arranged from Vancouver, with eligible expenses reimbursed.

Hours of work may change consistent with operational requirements.

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
