Role Description

Accurate coding is essential to quality patient care, provider success, and the financial integrity of a leading academic health system. As a Coding Specialist 2 supporting OB/GYN services, you will play a key role in ensuring clinical documentation and coding accuracy while helping providers navigate increasingly complex regulatory and reimbursement requirements.

As a Coding Specialist 2, you will leverage your expertise in professional fee coding, documentation review, and coding compliance to support OB/GYN providers and ensure coding accuracy across a variety of clinical services. Your work will directly influence documentation quality, reimbursement integrity, and regulatory compliance.

In an average day, you may:

• Review and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for provider services, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
• Analyze clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and determine when provider clarification or queries are appropriate.
• Apply coding modifiers, evaluate National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and navigate payer-specific billing requirements.
• Partner with physicians, clinical staff, and revenue cycle teams to support coding education and best practices.
• Monitor coding quality trends and contribute to process improvement efforts.
• Utilize electronic health record systems, including Epic preferred, to review encounters and supporting documentation.
• Maintain a high level of productivity while delivering exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

This role is ideal for coding professionals with approximately three years of experience who are passionate about quality, compliance, and supporting the delivery of outstanding women's healthcare.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of relevant coding experience required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
