Work location: Remote

Work hours: Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but some flexibility on hours.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare, Business or related field (REQUIRED)
• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent with 2 Years Coding experience in lieu of degree (REQUIRED)
• 3 Years Acute care hospital outpatient surgical coding experience (REQUIRED)
• 2 Years Education/Audit Reviews or Mentor/New Coder Review Training preferred
• 2 Years Specialty/Complex acute care OP surgical coding preferred

• Licenses and Certifications:
  • RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator AHIMA Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician AHIMA Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist AHIMA Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • COC - Certified Outpatient Coder AAPC Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • CPC - Certified Professional Coder AAPC Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • Other AAPC - CVIRCC Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
• Proficient in coding and EHR software
• Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT, modifiers
• Expert in NCCI/OCE billing edits; regulatory/payer requirements associated with coding and documentation
• Demonstrates strong decision making, problem solving and advanced critical thinking skills
• Strong research capabilities
• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner - both written and oral
• Possess a personal initiative to keep abreast of new coding updates/technology and regulatory data
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities according to business needs
• Ability and willingness to mentor/coach/precept newly promoted or entry level coders
• Serves as an SME for outpatient processes and workflows
