The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Rural and Remote is responsible for:

Providing leadership in Indigenous cultural safety, Indigenous-specific anti-racism, and engagement with Indigenous Peoples.

Delivering nursing care and fostering the highest standards of service delivery.

Consulting and communicating with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.

Providing subject matter expertise in nursing, resource planning, program improvement, and research.

Advancing nursing practice through evidence-based research.

Collaborating with various healthcare professionals to enhance nursing practice.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will:

Serve as a liaison with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit leaders.

Exemplify excellence in Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism.
-
Foster ongoing relationships with Indigenous Peoples.

Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
-
Lead the design and implementation of integrated systems for staff development.
-
Conduct research addressing community health priorities.
-
Provide mentorship and supervision to students and staff.
-
Report regularly on status of activities to the program Director.
-
Maintain knowledge of Indigenous Health and healthcare system issues.
Qualifications
-
Masters degree in Nursing; current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

A minimum of five (5) years of recent related experience in rural and remote care settings.

Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples and the legacy of colonial health harms.

Ability to identify gaps in the healthcare system for Indigenous communities.

Demonstrated ability to mentor and enact cultural humility.

Extensive knowledge of Health Standards Organization BC Cultural Safety & Humility Standards.

Advanced verbal, written, and technological communication skills.

Resourcefulness and advanced problem-solving skills in complex clinical situations.
