Role Description

As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, you work to improve the overall quality and completeness of provider-based clinical documentation. This includes:

• Reviewing patient records
• Assisting providers to ensure patient records are accurate for severity of illness and level of services rendered
• Working with providers, coders, and other patient care team members for comprehensive patient documentation
• Developing and delivering clinical documentation improvement education to providers
• Formulating, monitoring, and responding to all compliant documentation clarification requests

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field
• 1-2 years of inpatient coding experience
• RN with active state licensure OR Certification: RHIA/RHIT, CCS, CDIP, CCDS

Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred)
• Experience with acute care inpatient coding or clinical documentation improvement (preferred)
• RN, RHIA/RHIT, CCS, CDIP, CCDS certification (preferred)
