Role Description

This position involves navigating various electronic health record (EHR) and computer applications to support patient care and revenue cycle initiatives.

• Receives, sorts, prepares, and scans clinical documentation into the EHR according to HIM procedures.
• Analyzes non-interfaced patient laboratory reports for compliance with regulations.
• Utilizes optical character recognition software for data entry into the EHR.
• Identifies and creates appropriate laboratory tests using medical terminology.
• Records normal and abnormal findings, ensuring accurate entry and alerts for patients and clinicians.
• Locates or creates the appropriate patient, encounter, and/or order documentation.
• Ensures security and protection of electronic and physical PHI information according to HIPAA.
• Adapts to new laboratory tests and validates data points using critical thinking skills.
• Performs quality assurance of scanned documentation for accuracy and clarity.
• Completes timely error correction and ensures secure retention of PHI.
• Communicates with patient care and external laboratories to provide necessary information.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in Health Information Management or Medical Laboratory department.
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills, with the ability to learn new software systems.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Collaborative team player with openness to learning and problem-solving.
• Ability to learn from constructive feedback.
