Role Description

The Clinical Content Specialist develops, reviews, and validates acute and critical care nursing content for AACNโ€™s products and services. This position works collaboratively with internal and external experts and stakeholders in the provision of innovative and cost-effective products and services. Position works independently and without close supervision.

  • Ensures effective systems to facilitate the delivery of expert clinical practice knowledge for conference projects, programs, and services.
  • Works with Governance and develops a network of internal and external subject matter experts to support diverse content expertise needs, providing consultation, direction, and guidance to support successful project outcomes and alignment with organizational standards and priorities.
  • Develops and implements processes to assess project internal and external human resource requirements and related essential competencies, and to recruit for those competencies to ensure the right people with the right competencies to complete the project.
  • Develops and implements systems to gather, translate, and synthesize knowledge from key clinical practice community groups and AACNโ€™s programs and activities with internal departments. Acts as a primary consultant and liaison with these groups.
  • Provides leadership in ensuring content quality and integrity for clinical products, programs, and services.
  • Establishes and maintains systems for content quality assessment of new products and review of existing products.
  • Ensures accuracy, context, and relevance of clinical content used in products.
  • Selects and engages content experts to participate in specific projects and supports and facilitates their work.
  • Leads project development and implementation processes for assigned projects.
  • Directs and leads project teams, ensuring coordination and alignment with internal departments.
  • Develops project schedules and budgets aligned with internal and external resources, coordinates to meet project goals, and manages project plans to closure.
  • Facilitates project meetings, builds consensus, and addresses conflict to ensure project outcomes are met.
  • Provides direction and guidance to individuals involved in the process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating CNE activities in adherence to the ANCC accreditation criteria.
  • Ensures appropriate education design principles are used, and processes are consistent with requirements of the ANCC Accreditation Program.
  • Oversees processes to ensure proper assignment of CE to learning activities.
  • Ensures required accreditation documentation is obtained and maintained in a database system.
  • Functions as Primary Nurse Planner for assigned conferences and products.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and initiatives, including planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence and build collaborative partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including volunteer leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions that influence project direction, content quality, and organizational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, evaluate alternatives, exercise independent judgment, and implement solutions that improve program and project outcomes.
  • Identifies and engages content experts for specific projects and provides direction and consultation to support achievement of project objectives.
  • Operates with considerable independence, exercising discretion and independent judgment in planning work, establishing priorities, and determining approaches to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, evaluate alternatives, exercise independent judgment, and make decisions that impact project outcomes, content quality, and organizational objectives while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Masterโ€™s degree in Nursing preferred; additional specialty certification or credentialing preferred.
  • RN licensure required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive nursing experience, preferably in acute and/or critical care settings.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, programs, or initiatives and exercising independent judgment in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Experience providing clinical expertise, developing conference content or educational programs, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support practice, education, or accreditation-related outcomes.

Physical Requirements

  • This role requires frequent communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders through written, verbal, virtual, and in-person interactions.
  • The position regularly utilizes computers, virtual meeting platforms, and standard office technology to develop content, manage projects, facilitate meetings, and maintain documentation.
  • The position requires the ability to independently analyze and synthesize complex clinical and educational information, exercise professional judgment, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations that support organizational objectives and accreditation requirements.
  • The role requires sustained attention to detail, prioritization of multiple concurrent projects, and the ability to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
  • The individual must be able to facilitate discussions, provide consultation and guidance to stakeholders and subject matter experts, build consensus, and influence outcomes across diverse groups.
  • Occasional travel is required for meetings, conferences, educational activities, and organizational events.
