[Hiring] Clinical Coding Clerk @Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Role Description

The post holder is a member of the Clinical Coding Team who translate medical information (diagnoses and interventions) from patient’s electronic record to assign appropriate clinical codes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications. This information must be timely, complete and accurately recorded. It is required for cost analysis, invoicing CCGs, treatment effectiveness and outcome measurements.

• Gain expertise in clinical coding across all specialties within the Trust and demonstrate this skill verbally and through written assessments as required.
• Complete clinical coding to the highest level of specificity using the three dimensions to coding accuracy giving complete, accurate data of a high quality that is consistently recorded.
• Validate clinically coded data to coding accuracy ensuring a high quality that is consistently recorded.
• Ensure all coding is completed in a timely fashion in line with Trust and billing requirements. All clinical coding has to be completed by a given date in the month following the month in which the patient is discharged or transferred to another specialty or consultant.
• Report to the Clinical Coding Team Leader any discrepancies in clinical information contained in the medical record that contradicts clinical coding guidelines.
