Role Description
The Clinical Care Counselor will serve as a key patient-facing clinical expert within a high-touch navigation program supporting individuals undergoing the Caris Detect multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test. This role is responsible for delivering clear, empathetic, and clinically accurate counseling and care coordination to patients throughout testing and the diagnostic workup.

Deliver a high-touch, concierge-style experience that reflects a patient-first philosophy

Provide pre- and/or post-test education for patients interested in or undergoing Caris Detect MCED testing, including explanation of test purpose, capabilities, limitations, and result types (e.g., negative, intermediate signal, cancer signal detected)

Communicate complex genomic and probabilistic information in a clear, patient-friendly manner

Address patient concerns, anxiety, and uncertainty with empathy and professionalism

Reinforce appropriate expectations regarding screening, follow-up, and ongoing care

Incorporate patient feedback to improve satisfaction, trust, and engagement

Interpret MCED test results within the context of patient history and risk factors

Provide evidence-based guidance on recommended next steps

Support patients and providers in understanding clinical implications, limitations of MCED testing, and appropriate diagnostic pathways and next steps

Partner with providers to ensure timely and appropriate follow-up care, including diagnostic imaging, specialist referrals, and primary care coordination

Help guide escalation pathways and follow-up care for complex or high-acuity cases

Support continuity of care across healthcare settings

Collaborate with Medical affairs (clinical accuracy and education), Product teams (patient and provider experience design), and Commercial teams (consistent messaging)

Provide insights to improve test reporting, patient communication strategies, and clinical workflow design

Ensure all patient interactions comply with HIPAA and privacy regulations, clinical and laboratory guidelines, and internal SOPs

Document patient interactions accurately and consistently

Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications

Masterβs degree in Genetic Counseling OR advanced Nursing degree (MSN or NP), OR BSN with oncology/navigation experience
-
Board certification (or eligibility) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or relevant credentialing body

2+ years of clinical experience in genetic counseling, oncology nursing, patient navigation, or related field

Demonstrated experience in patient-facing counseling and education

Strong ability to communicate complex or uncertain results effectively

Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system, including referrals and diagnostic pathways
Requirements

Experience in Oncology, cancer genetics, patient navigation or liquid biopsy testing

Experience in Multi-cancer early detection (MCED) or screening programs
-
Experience in Laboratory or commercial diagnostics settings

Experience working in patient navigation or care coordination programs

Prior exposure to direct-to-patient engagement models
