Role Description

The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), APRN provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and women’s health patient care services. The CNM will be expected to:

• Provide women’s health, prenatal, and postpartum care to women in selected clinic settings.
• Triage women who present to Labor and Delivery.
• Manage the care of essentially healthy women admitted in labor, delivery, and postpartum.
• Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients independently or in collaboration with designated physicians.
• Work autonomously and in collaboration with various individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems.
• Serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
• Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
• Teach aspects of midwifery and obstetric care and services to medical, nursing, and midwifery students.
• Participate in research initiatives led by the Women and Infants Service Line.

Qualifications

• Valid License as an APRN by the State of Arkansas required.
• National Board Certification for Nurse-Midwifery required.
• Prescriptive authority and DEA license required (may be obtained after hire).
• Will consider a new CNM graduate.
• In-person response time requirement is 2 hours.
• Demonstrated communication (written and oral), problem-solving, leadership, and collaborative skills.
• Strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.
