Role Description
Logan Health is a growing health system located in Northwest Montana. We are looking for a Certified Facility Coder to join our team remotely! This position is on an as needed basis and may include 1 to 2 shifts per week depending on need. This position will assist with vacation coverage and gaps in staffing.

Shift: Day Shift β 8 Hours | PRN status

Pay: Ranges from $23.50 per hour to $31.73 per hour depending on prior related experience.
In this role, you will:
-
Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes for inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and emergency room records while ensuring accuracy for billing, reimbursement, and compliance.

Review medical records for DRG/APC assignment, verify charge accuracy, abstract clinical data, and collaborate with providers and hospital departments to ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
Job Specific Duties:

Assigns and sequences ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, and CPT 4 codes for all specialty patient types and billing and reimbursement.

Accurately codes advanced procedure accounts consisting of numerous components.

Reviews and analyzes medical records for DRG/APC assignment.
-
Reviews charges, ensures accuracy, and reviews medical necessity for ordered tests and procedures.
-
Proactively communicates with providers, staff, leadership, and hospital departments to ensure adequate documentation to support services.

Timely follows-up on accounts on hold.

Performs Charge capture and data entry per department protocol and procedure.

Accurately abstracts clinical data after documentation assessment and review.

Ensures accurate abstracting of clinical data and meets regulatory and compliance requirements.

Accurately follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory bodies.

Verifies accuracy of patient account, type, and demographic data.

Coordinates corrections with Patient Access and ensures accurate billing, reimbursement, and reporting.

Meets productivity standards set forth by Revenue Integrity Coding Department.

Exhibits initiative and supports continuous quality improvement efforts.

Successfully participates in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge and skills related to the position.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
Qualifications
-
Knowledge and understanding of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, and CPT 4 coding guidelines and practices required.

Minimum of two (2) yearsβ coding experience in an acute care (hospital/facility) required.
-
Nationally recognized coding certificate (CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA) required.

Minimum of two (2) yearsβ work related experience with computer data entry and retrieval skills; to include: MS Office Suite and electronic medical record systems required.

Thorough knowledge of classification and nomenclature anatomy, medical terminology, and health information management procedures and practices required.

Possess knowledge of acute and professional reimbursement guidelines.

Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
