Role Description

The Trauma Therapist provides therapy for children and adolescents exposed to any trauma. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with caregivers to provide the best clinical care.
• Supporting caregivers on behavioral management techniques.
• Providing one-on-one modeling and coaching.
• Educating caregivers on the child’s mental health issues.
• Providing clinical supervision to interns in the therapeutic services program.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise in working with children, adolescents, and adults presenting a full spectrum of concerns. The position offers:

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in the mental health field.
• Licensed in the state of Illinois.
• Credentialed with various managed care organizations.
• LCPC, LCSW, PsyD.
• Master's or doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology or related field.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• A positive approach toward client care.
• The ability to work day/early evening hours.
• Excellent professional references.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance, group behaviors, and dynamics.
• Knowledge of state mental health laws.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental disorders.
• Current knowledge of social trends and effective treatments.
• Strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual is a plus!

Requirements

• Provides services in the Park Ridge Office/Chicagoland Area.
• Works with the school, client, and parent/caregiver as needed to achieve desired social and emotional wellbeing and recovery.
• Incorporates trauma-informed care philosophy, practices, and strategies in all activities.
• Employs strategies of intervention consistent with empirically supported treatments and culturally appropriate methods.
• Completes data collection, data entry, and required reports in accordance with program timelines and standards.
• Practices within professional areas of expertise and under the supervision of an independently licensed practitioner (if required).
• Maintains productivity expectations, which may change based on agency goals.
• Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Services, Counseling, Art Therapy, or related field, with valid Illinois license (LCSW, LPC, LCPC, LSW, etc.).
• Experience using evidence-based modes of therapy.
• Willingness to work flexible evening and/or weekend hours to meet the needs of clients and their families.
• 2+ years direct clinical service with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma.
