Role Description

The Counselor provides outpatient behavioral health services, including individual, family, and group counseling, in a flexible PRN capacity. This role involves:

• Facilitating patient involvement in treatment and education.
• Conducting psychosocial assessments.
• Supporting complex discharge planning.
• Acting as a liaison for cases involving abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and protective services, coordinating with community agencies.
• Delivering evidence-based practices and crisis intervention.
• Maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant healthcare, mental health, or community experience.
• Current license in Indiana as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC, or HSPP.
• Certification in crisis intervention may be required; BLS certification may also be required.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI, DBT).
• Knowledge of legal mandates for child and adult protective services at the state and county levels.
• Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
• Proficiency in crisis de-escalation and safety techniques.
• Ability to create a safe, therapeutic environment and instruct on daily activities.
• Basic proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with community partners and healthcare teams.
