[Hiring] Authorization Specialist I @Baptist Health Care

Role Description

The Authorization Specialist serves as the point of financial clearance for the Infusion Center. The Authorization Specialist obtains authorization for infusion and/or radiation service on behalf of BPE providers.

• Verifies appropriate order is received.
• Confirms insurance is verified.
• Requests authorization on behalf of providers, including submission of clinical documentation.
• Works closely with practice leadership and department leadership regarding needs to ensure appropriate clearance.
• Contacts patients regarding rescheduling needs.
• Communicates with ordering providers and servicing departments.
• Verifies authorizations received from external referral sources to Infusion.
• Verifies benefits of the patient.
• In conjunction with pharmacy partnership, communicates drug changes as needed for assistance programs.
• Coordinates all pre-appointment requirements including scheduling, authorization, price estimation, financial counseling, and pre-registration.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare authorization processes.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes.
• Proficiency in using healthcare management software.
