Role Description

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a per diem After Hours Telephone Triage Nurse. Majority of scheduling needs will be for weekends and holidays. The shift will be based off of the operational need.

• Telephone triage, Barton Schmitt Telephone Triage Protocol, and pediatric experience is preferred.
• Practices at the level of a competent to proficient practitioner of nursing.
• Demonstrates competence in Telehealth nursing.
• Demonstrates clinical leadership skills through contribution to standards of care and unit goals.
• Serves as a role model for other staff and a preceptor for new employees.
• Participates in endeavors to increase nursing knowledge.
• Assists the Manager with administrative issues affecting clinical practices.
• Complies with administrative policies and clinical protocols as outlined in policy and procedure manual.
• Administratively responsible to the Manager and Ambulatory Nursing Director for nursing practice issues.
• Provides safe nursing guidance to the general pediatric population using either Office Hours or After Hours protocols.
• Minimum Weekend Requirement: 18 hours per 6 week schedule period.
• Department: After Hours Holiday Requirement (Winter/Summer): 1 of each.
• Shifts Available: Evenings / Nights / Weekends; potential for day shift based on needs of unit and office hour partners.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma Nursing - Required
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing - Preferred

Requirements

• At least five (5) years registered nursing experience - Required
• Pediatric Experience - Preferred

• Salary Range: $15.00 - $507.00 Hourly

• Nursing Practice
  • Follows the Nursing Process to deliver safe telephone triage care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collects and synthesizes complex assessment data and uses critical thinking skills to determine the most appropriate protocol and disposition.

  • Communicates and collaborates with families/caregivers on the plan of care and ensures understanding and compliance.

  • Applies education and training from departmental in-services and external sources to enhance Nursing practice.
  • Assists in developing and utilizes patient education materials relevant to patient population.
