Role Description

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications will play a pivotal role in managing and mitigating the impact of issues and crises on Montu and its suite of brands and stakeholder audiences. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this role involves developing and implementing crisis communication strategies, providing expert guidance during critical situations, and safeguarding the organisation’s reputation. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, demonstrated crisis management experience, and a strategic mindset to effectively handle high-pressure situations.

  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans and strategies that align with Montu’s organisational goals and values
  • Act as an internal primary point of contact for crisis communications, coordinating responses and ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination
  • Provide strategic advice and support to senior management and the Director of Communications during crisis situations
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential risks and develop proactive communication strategies
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders on risk mitigation, prevention and management including Legal, Corporate Affairs & Patient Advocacy, Government Relations and the Risk & Compliance team
  • Develop clear and concise messages for internal and external audiences during crises as part of wider crisis communications plans
  • Prepare media statements and Q&As and other stakeholder communications materials
  • Manage media relations during crisis events, including coordinating interviews, managing media briefings, and handling inquiries
  • Build and maintain key relationships with a broad range of journalists and media outlets to support communications outcomes
  • Develop and distribute communication materials for key stakeholders, including employees, patients, suppliers and partners
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels
  • Conduct crisis communication training and related exercises for internal teams and senior contacts in preparation for anticipated issues management
  • Evaluate and refine crisis communication protocols based on exercise outcomes and real-world experiences
  • Work with the wider Communications team to monitor media coverage and stakeholder sentiment during and after a crisis to assess the impact and effectiveness of communication strategies
  • Prepare post-crisis reports and evaluations to identify key lessons learned and improve future response strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Crisis communications experience (either in-house or agency, with a proven track record of success)
  • Current working knowledge of media relations and communications best practices
  • Ability to think critically and strategically in fast-paced environments
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and priorities
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with experience managing multiple priorities and projects
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in health sector and within a regulated industry desirable
  • Experience working in a multi-brand environment desirable
