[Hiring] Paid Search Manager @ecoATM

Role Description

ecoATM pays people cash for their used phones, tablets and other devices at more than 7,500 self-serve kiosks in Walmart, Kroger, Dollar General and other retailers. We collect millions of devices a year, giving them a second life, and have paid customers more than $2 billion since our founding in 2009. Most customers check their price online first, lock in an offer, then head to a kiosk. Search is where much of that intent shows up, which makes it our largest and most efficient paid channel.

As the owner of paid search execution, you will be responsible for a large and growing budget across Google, Microsoft, OpenAI's ChatGPT ads and app campaigns. You'll join the Consumer Growth team, a core focus for the company, as our increasing investment in marketing has accelerated our growth with consumers. Search is changing fast, and we want to stay ahead of it. AI Max and AI Overviews are changing how paid search and SEO have traditionally worked. ChatGPT ads are already one of our growth channels, and we’re building a paid presence across AI assistants and LLMs. You’ll lead that work and help keep ecoATM at the forefront of AI search.

This is a hands-on role reporting to our Director of Paid Media. You’ll build and run campaigns yourself and own the results. We optimize for incrementality, using every metric we have, from both the ad platforms and our own data. You’ll help shape how we define success and where we invest our spend.

What You’ll Do

• Run Google Ads and Microsoft Ads day to day across Search, Performance Max and AI Max, including structure, bidding, budgets, keywords, ad copy, assets and audiences.
• Build our paid presence on AI platforms.
• Scale ChatGPT ads, test new AI and LLM placements as they open up, and show what they add beyond Google.
• Shape search strategy for the near and long term as AI changes the channel. Track competitive and industry trends and flag what they mean for us.
• Test your way to growth with an always-on A/B testing roadmap that improves performance and earns more investment.
• Grow app advertising. Find out what it would take to invest more in app campaigns and to make them succeed.
• Measure what’s incremental. Optimize daily toward online offer locks, and work with the Director of Paid Media on geo holdout tests that show what search adds in kiosk visits and margin.
• Own pacing, forecasting and reporting, including weekly performance updates, budget tracking and clear write-ups of what you tested and learned.
• Work across teams with our Web and Conversion Manager on landing page tests, with Creative on ad copy and assets, and with SEO so paid and organic work together on the results page without overlapping.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on paid search experience, including at least 2 years owning a large account.
• Deep, current expertise in Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, including bidding and keyword strategy, campaign types, and newer offerings like AI Max.
• A track record of growing paid search investment through experimentation and hypothesis testing.
• A clear understanding of incrementality versus attributed performance, and experience using that difference to make investment decisions.
• Experience with offline or store conversions, including offline conversion import, enhanced conversions, GA4, and conversion tracking you can audit yourself.
• Strong spreadsheet analysis skills, plus comfort pulling your own data from a reporting tool or data warehouse.
• A point of view on where search is heading as people turn to AI assistants, and how a brand should buy media there.
• Clear writing. You can explain a result and a recommendation to people who don’t work in search.
• Ownership. You take pride in the channel’s performance and drive it forward without waiting to be asked.

Nice to Haves

• Hands-on time with ChatGPT ads or other AI ad placements.
• Experience at a business where the sale happens offline: retail, recommerce, auto, insurance or similar.
• Local search across thousands of locations, including location assets and store-visit measurement.
• Hands-on time with geo testing tools such as Haus, or with media mix models.
• Apple Search Ads or Google App campaigns.
• SQL, and reporting tools such as Funnel.io or Looker.

Location

Remote - Must be located in the United States (preference for San Diego or New York)

Base Salary Range

$115K to 135K. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives based on individual and company performance. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per CA SB 1162 (“CA Pay Transparency Law”).
