Role Description
The Paid Search Account Director is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning the strategy, performance, and execution of a high-investment enterprise paid search program (multi-million dollar monthly spend). This role serves as the primary subject matter expert and strategic lead across all paid search initiatives, driving scalable growth through advanced optimization, data-driven decision making, and cross-channel integration.
You will operate as the day-to-day strategic owner of one of the agency’s most complex and high-impact accounts—partnering closely with senior client stakeholders, internal channel leads, and analytics teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Do

Strategic Ownership & Leadership

Own the end-to-end paid search strategy for a large-scale enterprise account, aligning investment to business goals, seasonality, and growth targets.

Translate business objectives into full-funnel search strategies, including non-brand, brand, Shopping, Performance Max, and emerging formats.

Act as the primary strategic advisor to client stakeholders, delivering proactive recommendations grounded in data and market trends.

Lead annual, quarterly, and monthly planning, including forecasting, budget allocation, and scenario modeling.

Identify and prioritize incremental growth opportunities across audiences, query expansion, and automation.

Performance Management & Optimization

Own performance against core KPIs (CPA, ROAS, revenue, LTV, pipeline contribution).

Develop and execute advanced optimization frameworks across bidding, audience segmentation, creative, and landing pages.

Build and maintain testing roadmaps, continuously validating hypotheses and scaling successful initiatives.

Diagnose performance trends and quickly resolve issues related to pacing, tracking, or efficiency.

Operational Excellence

Maintain hands-on ownership of campaign architecture, including account structure, keyword strategy, and audience frameworks.

Ensure best-in-class implementation across platforms such as Google and Microsoft Ads networks.

Oversee campaign builds, QA, and trafficking to ensure accuracy and scalability.

Analysis & Cross-Channel Collaboration

Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and translate them into clear strategic narratives.

Partner with analytics teams to evolve forecasting models, incrementality testing, and attribution approaches.

Partner with Paid Social, SEO, Programmatic, and Creative teams to ensure integrated media strategies.

Innovation & Thought Leadership

Stay ahead of platform changes, AI advancements, and industry trends, proactively applying learnings.

Identify and implement emerging opportunities (e.g., automation, new campaign types, audience signals).

Act as an internal and client-facing thought leader in paid search.

Contribute to agency POVs, frameworks, and best practices for enterprise-scale accounts.
Qualifications

6–10+ years of experience in paid search / performance marketing.

Proven experience managing enterprise-level accounts with significant monthly spend ($1M+).

Deep expertise in platforms such as Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and SA360.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.

Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic decisions.

Hands-on experience with bidding strategies, feed-based campaigns, and automation.
Requirements

Familiarity with WordPress or a similar CMS.

Familiarity with attribution tools, CDPs, and advanced analytics environments.

Exposure to experimentation frameworks (incrementality, geo-testing, lift studies).
