Role Description
The Manager – Community & Grassroot Engagement is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that connect the brand with local communities and grassroots audiences. This role leads program planning, budgeting, and activation to ensure alignment with market priorities and brand objectives. The Manager collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to integrate sponsorships, partnerships, and digital amplification into grassroots programming, while also managing agency relationships.
This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates but with a preference to reside in Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, or Wisconsin markets.
Responsibilities

Develop and execute community engagement strategies:

Oversee community and grassroots engagement programs with responsibility for budget, design, messaging, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Manage partnerships and stakeholder collaboration:

Build and maintain relationships with agencies, vendors, and strategic partners, integrating sponsorship intellectual property (IP) and ensuring effective, consistent program delivery alongside regional brand teams and third-party agencies.

Assess program impact with Marketing Operations, maintain brand consistency, and support digital outreach.

Track community engagement KPIs—reach, participation, leads, conversions, sentiment, and return on investment (ROI).

Use data to refine activities and regularly update internal stakeholders.

Collaborate with Regional Brand Manager to align local activities with brand messaging, campaign priorities, and business objectives.

Develop request for proposals (RFPs), negotiate vendor/agency contracts, and ensure cost-efficient, high-quality program execution.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.

5+ years’ marketing or community engagement experience.

3+ years’ experience in field marketing or local event-based activation.

2+ years’ supervisory experience.

Demonstrated experience planning and executing community events, sponsorships, and partnership programs.

Strong communication, public speaking, and relationship‑building skills.

Proven people management skills, including oversight of remote markets.

Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, vendors, and budgets.

Experience analyzing marketing or engagement metrics to inform decisions.

Familiarity with sponsorship negotiation and activation strategy.

Background in telecommunications, retail, membership organizations, or service industries.

Experience with ambassador programs.

Knowledge of regional culture, demographic, and community networks.

Located within a strategic market preferred.
