Role Description
We're looking for someone to join italist as a Lifecycle/Ecommerce Marketing Lead. italist is a leading luxury fashion marketplace, connecting shoppers around the world with the best luxury boutiques across Italy and Europe. Acquisition gets customers to italist once β your job is everything after that. You'll own customer loyalty, retention and re-engagement, and our owned channels: email and social.
This is a full-time, remote-first role in Canada, the US or the UK.
Things You'll Work On
-
Email & Lifecycle Marketing:
You'll own our email program in Klaviyo end-to-end β the campaign calendar, trigger-based flows (welcome, browse and cart abandonment, post-purchase, winback), segmentation, testing and deliverability. Roughly 20% of italist's revenue comes from email today; you'll own that number and push it higher β and prove it with holdouts and incrementality, not just last-click attribution.
-
Retention & Re-engagement:
You'll own repeat purchase rate β building the journeys that turn a first order into a second, and re-activating customers who've gone quiet. In luxury, the second purchase is where the economics really start to work.
-
Loyalty Program Relaunch:
You'll relaunch our loyalty program end-to-end β positioning, mechanics, build (across Shopify and Klaviyo), launch and measurement β and make it something a luxury customer actually cares about, not a points scheme they ignore.
-
Personalization:
You'll personalize our marketing campaigns and on-site experience β using browsing behaviour, purchase history and brand affinities so every email and landing page feels curated by a personal shopper, not batched by a system.
-
Owned Social:
You'll run our organic social presence as a true owned channel β content that builds the brand, feeds the funnel, and gives customers a reason to follow us between purchases.
-
AI Leverage:
You'll use AI tooling and agentic workflows to get more out of everything above β drafting, building, analyzing and personalizing at a scale one marketer couldn't touch a few years ago. 1-2 people with the right systems should ship what used to take an entire team.
Attitudes
-
You're competitive and love to win.
-
You do whatever it takes.
-
Founder-level ownership.
-
Curiosity with teeth.
-
You ask for forgiveness, not permission.
-
You're a self-starter.
-
You have excellent analytical skills.
Who this role is right for
-
Someone who has run lifecycle/CRM at an ecommerce brand or marketplace and wants to own the whole customer relationship β not just execute a channel.
-
Someone who builds rather than briefs β you're hands-on in Klaviyo and Shopify (segments, flows, events, integrations) and don't need an agency or engineer for most of what you ship.
-
Someone who already uses AI daily and treats it as a force multiplier, not a novelty.
-
Someone with equal parts taste and rigour β you can write a subject line a luxury customer would actually open, and you'd never call a campaign a win without knowing it was incremental.
Who this role is not right for
-
People who want a stable, predictable or repetitive role/set of tasks.
-
People looking for active mentorship (i.e. you'd rather have someone tell you exactly what to do vs. figure it out on your own).
-
People who are excited about building and managing a team vs handing the details themselves.
-
People who find comfort in following a playbook.
-
People who don't want to be in the weeds, spending hours querying a database and slicing the data to find new insights and hypotheses to test.
-
People who prefer stability over speed or "strategy over execution".
Logistics/Next Steps
-
Process:
Everyone will hear back within 3 days of applying. Our process involves calls with 2-3 members of our team. You'll also complete a 1-day working session (paid, on-site in Toronto; if you're outside of Toronto we'll fly you in).
-
Work Setup:
We operate Remote-first with some time spent In-Person together throughout the year as needed.
-
Working Hours:
We trust team members to manage their own schedules and believe that taking time off to recharge makes you more productive in the long run.
