[Hiring] Digital Community & Audience Growth Manager @AARP

Role Description

The Digital Community & Audience Growth Manager develops and leads AARP’s National Retired Teachers Association’s (NRTA) digital engagement strategy. This role focuses on building relationships with educators and expanding participation through various initiatives.

• Leads all digital engagement with the educator community including virtual events, email marketing, online community development, volunteer engagement pathways, social media outreach, webinars, new product development, and all aspects of educator audience growth.
• Integrates advocacy and community engagement work with internal and external teams and partners.
• Develops and executes advocacy and community engagement campaigns that include grassroots mobilization and leadership.
• Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Identifies issues of public policy and organizational importance, and develops and implements advocacy strategies at local, state, and federal levels.
• Collaborates with internal/external partners on advocacy campaign communication strategy development.
• Utilizes direct action organizing tactics and implements grassroots advocacy tools to build constituent support for the organization’s legislative priorities.
• Works with staff, volunteers, members, and other cross-organization teams to achieve community engagement goals.
• Establishes a presence for the organization in targeted communities by engaging multicultural audiences and developing community partnerships.
• Represents the organization to federal, state, local government agencies and media outlets.
• Builds and maintains relationships with governmental representatives to advance the organization's goals.
• Develops and communicates persuasive narratives aligned with the organization’s priorities to diverse audiences.
• Serves as a subject-matter-expert on advocacy issues, producing written reports and convening public meetings.
• Recruits, trains, develops, and deploys volunteers in accordance with organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in building digital communities, advocacy, community engagement, grassroots organizing, or government relations.
• Experience developing community partnerships, leading volunteer initiatives, and executing advocacy or outreach campaigns.
• Excellent communication, relationship-management, and public-presentation skills.
• AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
