Role Description

Bamboo Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Growth Marketing Director who brings a strong combination of marketing expertise and working knowledge of the government behavioral health landscape. This role owns and leads go-to-market strategy for Bamboo Health’s behavioral health portfolio, with a focus on state and county health agencies and other public sector buyers. The ideal candidate understands how behavioral/mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) programs are funded, delivered, and procured at the government level, and uses that understanding and AI-powered tools to develop messaging, content, and campaigns that resonate with this audience and support long-cycle government sales.

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies targeting state and county behavioral health agencies and public health departments, aligned to their priorities, funding cycles, and procurement processes.
  • Craft messaging that clearly communicates the value of Bamboo Health’s behavioral health and care coordination solutions to government buyers, grounded in the real-world challenges of mental health service delivery, leveraging AI tools for market research and message testing.
  • Partner with sales, product, and policy teams to align go-to-market efforts with government buying cycles, strategic funding programs, and policy developments that shape behavioral health purchasing decisions.
  • Create high-impact content including white papers, case studies, webinars, and RFP support materials tailored to public sector audiences and reflective of the mental health and SUD landscape leveraging AI tools to accelerate content production.
  • Monitor and synthesize market trends, policy changes, and competitive dynamics using AI-assisted analysis within behavioral health and health IT, and share insights that inform commercial and product strategy.
  • Build relationships with relevant industry associations and organizations (e.g., NASMHPD, National Council, NACo, Open Minds, others) to increase Bamboo Health’s visibility and thought leadership in the government behavioral health space.
  • Design and execute multi-channel campaigns targeting public-sector behavioral health stakeholders across email, LinkedIn, paid channels, and industry publications.
  • Support conference strategy and presence at key public sector and behavioral health events (e.g., SAMHSA forums, NatCon, state behavioral health summits).
  • Collaborate with sales to develop nurture programs tailored to 12–24 month government procurement timelines and track performance against pipeline contribution goals.
  • Explore opportunities to enhance workflows through AI or automation tools (e.g., document summarization, task routing, or data parsing).
  • Identify repetitive tasks and partner with team leads to implement scalable automation solutions.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, with meaningful exposure to the government health or behavioral health space; B2G experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree in public health, healthcare administration, or a related field, preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of the state and local government behavioral health landscape including how agencies are funded (e.g., Medicaid, block grants, federal programs), how they procure technology, and what drives their priorities.
  • Familiarity with the mental health and SUD treatment landscape, including key policy frameworks, the continuum of care, and the challenges behavioral health agencies face in delivering and expanding services.
  • Understanding of government procurement processes, RFPs, and long sales cycles.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives for government audiences.
  • Experience working within or closely alongside a state behavioral health authority, county health department, CCBHC, or behavioral health managed care organization.
  • Knowledge of federal and state behavioral health policy (e.g., 1115 waivers, CCBHCs, PDMPs, mental health parity) and how policy changes affect government buyer priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools applied to marketing processes including content generation, research synthesis, or performance analysis (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar).
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI outputs and apply sound editorial judgment when using AI for public-sector-facing content.
  • A forward-thinking, curious mindset with an openness to experimenting with new technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and creativity in designing solutions.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly evolving environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, ensuring high-quality virtual interactions with minimal distractions.
  • The ability to travel periodically for work.

Requirements

  • In 3 months, develop strong fluency in Bamboo Health’s behavioral health portfolio, target government buyers, and current go-to-market strategy.
  • Build trusted relationships with Sales, Product, Policy, and Executive stakeholders as the behavioral health GTM owner.
  • Assess existing messaging, content, and campaigns and identify priority gaps or opportunities.
  • Implement at least one opportunity in your role to apply AI or automation (e.g., streamlining a task, summarizing data, generating content).
  • In 6 months, own and execute a refined behavioral health go-to-market strategy aligned to government buying cycles.
  • Launch integrated campaigns supporting long-cycle procurement timelines and measurable pipeline contribution.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to sales, influencing account strategies and deal support.
  • Deliver regular executive-level reporting on GTM performance, pipeline influence, and market insights.
  • In 12 months, demonstrate clear pipeline and revenue impact from behavioral health marketing initiatives.
  • Be recognized internally as the owner and subject matter expert for government behavioral health GTM strategy.
  • Influence product roadmap and partnership strategy using market, policy, and customer insights.
  • Establish scalable GTM playbooks, metrics, and processes to support long-term growth that incorporate responsible, effective AI tool use within the GTM workflow.

Benefits

  • Join one of the most innovative healthcare technology companies in the country.
  • Have the autonomy to build something with an enthusiastically supportive team.
  • Learn from working at the highest levels and on the most strategic priorities of the company, including from world class investors and advisors.
