Role Description
Basketball Atlas is looking for a part-time Social Media Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day social media presence and help grow our brand across the basketball community. This person will manage our content calendar, create and publish content, develop new ideas, engage with our audience, track performance, and work with our team to continuously improve our social media strategy. The role is approximately 20 hours per week, fully remote, with a target compensation range of $10β$15 per hour depending on experience.
Our goal is to increase our content output significantly, with a target of approximately two posts per day across our social channels, while maintaining quality, creativity, and relevance.

Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Calendar
-
Build and maintain weekly and monthly content calendars
-
Develop a consistent posting schedule across platforms
-
Work toward approximately two posts per day across our social ecosystem

Develop platform-specific content strategies and formats
-
Plan content around basketball news, recruiting, the transfer portal, NIL, international basketball, product updates, player stories, and relevant events

Bring new content ideas and creative concepts to the team

Content Creation
-
Create graphics, carousels, short-form videos, Reels, TikToks, and other social media assets
-
Write captions, hooks, headlines, and platform-specific copy
-
Turn Basketball Atlas data, features, player stories, basketball trends, and company updates into engaging content

Use tools such as Canva, Adobe, CapCut, AI platforms, and other modern creative tools
-
Utilize AI and emerging technology to improve content quality, creativity, and production speed
-
Work with outside designers or video editors when needed while maintaining ownership of the final content and deadlines

Social Media Management & Community

Schedule and publish content consistently

Maintain a recognizable and consistent Basketball Atlas brand voice
-
Respond to comments and engage with relevant users and accounts

Monitor basketball trends, creators, conversations, and timely content opportunities

Identify coaches, players, agents, teams, organizations, and creators Basketball Atlas should engage with

Help grow followers, engagement, reach, website traffic, and overall brand awareness

Analytics & Growth
-
Track reach, impressions, engagement, follower growth, clicks, and top-performing content
-
Provide regular performance updates to the Basketball Atlas team
-
Identify what is working and where the strategy should change

Use analytics to continuously improve content
-
Suggest campaigns, collaborations, giveaways, partnerships, and other growth opportunities

Experiment with new content formats and distribution strategies
-
Team Collaboration
-
Participate in approximately one team meeting per week

Come prepared with content ideas, trends, and opportunities
-
Work with Basketball Atlas leadership to understand product updates and company priorities
-
Turn company developments into timely social content
Qualifications
-
Previous experience managing social media accounts, creating content, or working in digital marketing
-
Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and current social media trends
-
Ability to create visually compelling graphics and short-form video content
-
Strong writing and communication skills
-
Ability to independently manage a content calendar and consistently meet deadlines
-
Creative mindset and willingness to test new ideas
-
Self-starter who can operate without constant oversight

Reliable, organized, and responsive

Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
