[Hiring] Senior System Administrator @Contour Education

Role Description

This is a remote position.

As a Senior System Administrator (IT Infrastructure and Security), you will be the senior engineer in Contour's first in-house IT team, responsible for:

• Running systems including Google Workspace, Slack, HubSpot, Rippling, and the LMS.
• Managing the identity platform and device fleet, network, CCTV, and door access at each campus.
• Overseeing the security posture across all systems.
• Reporting to the interim IT lead in Melbourne and then to the VP of Global Enablement and Support.
• Expecting to spend two-thirds of your week on system ownership, hardening, and project work, and one-third on escalations.
• Mentoring a systems engineer who runs the L1 and L2 queue.

By the end of month three, you will have:

• MFA and 2SV at full coverage.
• A first access review completed.
• Offboarding revocation confirmed.
• A change record on every production change.
• Top repeat escalations documented into runbooks.
• Findings from the recent security review triaged into a remediation plan.
• Documentation for the UniFi stack and enforcement of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC on the domain.

Qualifications

• Four or more years in systems administration, systems engineering, or senior IT support.
• At least two years as the accountable administrator for a core business system.
• Administrator-level Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 experience.
• Experience in identity and access as a design discipline.
• Evidence of security ownership, including hardening and access reviews.
• Networking diagnosis skills.
• Endpoint management across macOS and Windows at fleet scale.
• Experience with a change process.
• Scripting skills in Python, JavaScript, or Google Apps Script.
• Ability to communicate in plain English for executives.
• Comfortable working across the India and Australia time difference.

Requirements

• Hands-on UniFi, CCTV, or door access control work.
• Experience with HubSpot, Rippling, Aircall, or Notion administration.
• Light scripting or automation experience.
• Experience in education or environments handling student data.
• A diploma, degree, or certification in the field (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals).
