Role Description

SpecterOps is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT System Administrator to join our internal corporate IT team. The Senior IT System Administrator is responsible for the design, deployment, administration, and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments. This role reports directly to the Director of Information Technology.

This is an individual contributor role best suited for an experienced and certified IT professional who can work both independently and as part of a team, while collaborating cross-functionally with Security, Compliance, Engineering, and other business operations teams to achieve company-wide goals.

Salary: $115,000 - $145,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Location: This position is remote, based in the U.S. with optional travel quarterly for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings. Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we currently do not sponsor immigration visas.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and maintain enterprise infrastructure across hybrid cloud, on-premises, and SaaS environments.
• Serve as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert for systems architecture, identity, endpoint management, collaboration platforms, and enterprise services.
• Partner closely with the Director of Information Technology to guide the IT Operations team and drive strategic initiatives.
• Design and operate multi-cloud infrastructure environments, including identity integrations and compute workloads.
• Lead architecture and lifecycle management for enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms.
• Develop and maintain identity and access management architecture.
• Design, deploy, and manage endpoint infrastructure for corporate workstations and laptops.
• Oversee secure infrastructure for internal systems and services.
• Drive secure email and messaging platform architecture.
• Design and maintain enterprise networking and secure remote access infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain centralized logging, monitoring, and observability platforms.
• Lead vulnerability management initiatives.
• Collaborate with security engineering teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with security best practices.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools and technologies.
• Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to systems engineers and IT operations staff.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic troubleshooting methodology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-paced, security-sensitive environment.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally with IT Security, DevOps, and other business units.
• High degree of professionalism, personal accountability, and discretion when handling sensitive systems and data.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours critical incidents as needed.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including 4+ years in a senior systems administration role.
• Hands-on expertise managing Windows Server and Linux in enterprise production environments.
• Strong experience with hybrid cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based ITSM practices (Change & Incident Management).
• Core infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and Linux (Debian-based, CLI).
• Cloud & workplace platforms: AWS, Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), Intune, and Defender.
• Automation & operations: PowerShell/Bash/Python scripting, ITSM tools (Zendesk, ServiceNow, Jira), backups, and SIEM/monitoring.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured problem-solving approach.
• Clear communicator able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, security-sensitive environments.
• Collaborative team player experienced working cross-functionally across IT and business units.
• High professionalism, accountability, discretion, and willingness to support on-call/after-hours incidents.
