Role Description

The Linux System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, performance, and availability of Red Hat server environments supporting Bell Canada. The role performs server patching, updates, upgrades, performance tuning, security hardening, vulnerability management, system monitoring, incident response, infrastructure changes, and automation. The position also provides after-hours on-call support and participates in disaster recovery and business continuity activities to support stable and resilient server operations.

Working as part of a global IT team, the Linux System Administrator collaborates with network, database, application, and other technology teams to support infrastructure integration, resolve operational issues, and continuously improve server administration processes through automation and effective technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
• Relevant Red Hat certifications, such as:
  • RHCSA
  • RHCE
  • Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform certifications
  • Certifications related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration
  • Automation-related certifications
  • OpenStack-related certifications
  • Enterprise Linux infrastructure management certifications
  • VMware certifications are considered an advantage.
  • ITIL certifications are considered an advantage.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of Server Administration experience specializing in Red Hat Server platforms.
• At least 3 years of experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, and Red Hat OpenStack.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with scripting languages and automation tools, including PowerShell and Python.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing.
• Experience supporting a 24/7 operational environment.
• Experience managing RHEL and other Linux distributions.
• Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite.
• Knowledge of change management processes and procedures.
