[Hiring] IT Automation Engineer @Rithum

Role Description

As an Automation Engineer, you design, build, and maintain the scripts, workflows, and tools that let Rithum’s Business Technology team spend less time on manual, repetitive IT work and more time solving problems that matter. You also administer and support the end-user, identity, and collaboration platforms Rithum runs on, so the automation you build is grounded in hands-on ownership of those systems.

• Partner closely with the Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to identify where automation can reduce risk and free up capacity.
• Accountable for the reliability of the automation you build.
• Leverage AI to work smarter, accelerate decision-making, automate repeatable work, and improve outcomes.
• Continuously identify opportunities to apply AI, data, and scalable processes to enhance productivity, drive innovation, and deliver greater value.

Responsibilities

• Automation Development & Engineering
  • Design, build, and maintain automation scripts and workflows (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Design, build, and own automated workflows across user lifecycle, device provisioning, and identity lifecycle using Rithum's existing platforms (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf).
  • Instrument automations with logging and alerting for auditability and measurability.
  • Translate manual, repetitive IT operations processes into reliable, documented, automated solutions.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate script development and troubleshoot automation failures.
• Enterprise Systems Administration & Support
  • Administer, configure, and monitor end-user and identity platforms such as Active Directory, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, and Tanium.
  • Administer and support collaboration and productivity platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Resolve end-user computing issues across Windows and macOS through the ticketing queue, direct messaging, and voice or video sessions.
  • Document technical solutions to align with corporate IT and Information Security standards.
  • Partner with teams to identify recurring manual tasks that are candidates for automation.
• Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Document automation workflows, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Own the automation knowledge base, keeping runbooks and integration notes current.
  • Apply lessons learned from prior automation efforts to improve reliability.
  • Monitor the performance and reliability of deployed automations.
• AI-Enabled Productivity & Innovation
  • Use AI for recurring IT work — configuration research, scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and solution design.
  • Validate AI-generated scripts and configurations in non-production environments.
  • Share effective AI-assisted approaches and prompts with teammates.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for automation and AI in Business Technology workflows.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Experience administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms.
• Demonstrated experience adapting or troubleshooting existing automation scripts.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be available for occasional travel to Rithum offices.

Requirements

• Located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone.
• Handle escalations requiring cross-team coordination.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside business hours.
• Successful professional experience working in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a DevOps-adjacent role.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
• Experience integrating automation with IT service management or endpoint management tooling.
• Experience with workflow orchestration or automation tooling.
• Familiarity with REST API integration patterns and event-driven concepts.
• Personal projects or hackathon work demonstrating scripting or automation ability.
