Role Description

Reporting to the Manager of Cloud Engineering, the Cloud Engineer II is responsible for enterprise level design and expert level knowledge of Brown University Health’s complex Public and Private cloud infrastructures and components. The role focuses on engineering solutions that encompass:

The Engineer II is responsible for performance and maintenance on all cloud-related infrastructure within Brown University Health. The role also provides support for platform-specific infrastructure projects as assigned.

The Engineer II would be responsible for:

• Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and services to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Developing and enforcing cloud security policies and procedures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and potential security threats.
• Optimizing cloud performance and cost-efficiency through continuous monitoring and improvement.
• Creating and managing automation scripts for efficient deployment, management, and scaling of cloud resources.
• Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions that meet business objectives.
• Designing and implementing disaster recovery and backup strategies for cloud-based systems.
• Maintaining comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required.
• A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Relevant certification in one of the major Cloud platforms is required (must be obtained within the first year of employment).

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience required, with a preference toward large enterprise environments.
• Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with a focus on senior-level responsibilities.
• Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, automation tools, and security best practices.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Benefits

• Pay Range: $95,264.00 - $157,206.40
• Remote work opportunity in Massachusetts.
• Work Type: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm
• Work Shift: Day
• Daily Hours: 8 hours
