The Cloud Engineer collaborates with the Cloud Center of Excellence, Cloud Architects, and other Cloud Engineers to implement cloud solutions that align with organizational values, goals, and enterprise architecture. In this role, you will:

• Provide tactical, hands-on support for cloud adoption initiatives, application design, administration, and monitoring.
• Promote simplicity, consistency, reusability, and standardization in the design and implementation of cloud solutions across the division.
• Support the implementation of the overarching cloud vision, strategy, and approach in collaboration with the ITD Architecture team.
• Provide subject matter expertise within assigned areas of responsibility and partner across the division with engineers and architects.

A caregiver in this position works remotely Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with limited travel required. To be considered for this role, caregivers must reside in Ohio or Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Additional experience or relevant certifications may offset some or all of education requirements.
• Five years of experience working in areas of computer systems and Infrastructure.
• Two years of experience specializing in cloud engineering.
• Demonstrated skills in technical judgement with ability to guide decisions across systems, scale, performance, security, fault tolerance, etc.
• Experience with and significant knowledge of at least one cloud platform.
• Experience working within small to medium sized cloud engineering teams.
• Ability to work across organizations and multiple stakeholders.
• Interested and curious about the domain.

Requirements

• For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
• Microsoft Azure administration and architecture experience preferred.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, ExpressRoute preferred.
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) experience preferred.
• Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) experience preferred.
• Azure Security Center / Defender for Cloud experience preferred.
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics experience preferred.
• Terraform, Bicep, Ansible experience preferred.
• PowerShell and scripting experience preferred.
• Preferred Certifications for Azure: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500) or Terraform Associate.
• Five+ years of dedicated engineering experience managing and operating enterprise-scale infrastructure natively within Microsoft Azure in a remote or distributed team environment preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure VMs, VNets, Storage, Azure AD/Entra ID, App Services, Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and PaaS databases preferred.
• Ability to design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient Azure architecture across Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and serverless environments preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform as the primary Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking preferred.
• Hands-on experience with container technologies preferred.
• Experience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines preferred.
• Advanced scripting and automation skills preferred.
• Demonstrated experience implementing Azure security and governance solutions preferred.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools preferred.
• Excellent asynchronous communication and documentation skills preferred.
