Role Description
We are looking for a US Senior Accountant with strong experience in insurance accounting to join our team. The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of US accounting principles, experience handling insurance-related financial transactions, and the ability to manage accounting activities independently. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close, and preparing financial reports. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with US-based clients and handling sensitive financial information with a high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting activities for US insurance clients.

Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including insurance-related receivables and payables.

Record and reconcile insurance premiums, commissions, claims, and other insurance-related transactions.

Monitor and reconcile premium receivables and agency/company balances.

Review and record insurance commissions and commission payable/receivable transactions.

Prepare and maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.

Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and account schedules.

Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.

Maintain accurate supporting documentation for all accounting activities.

Assist with audit requirements and provide supporting schedules and documentation.

Support tax and compliance-related accounting requirements as needed.

Review accounting entries and ensure transactions are properly classified and recorded.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and documentation.
-
Work closely with US-based clients, finance teams, and other stakeholders to address accounting concerns and provide updates.

Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

At least 4β6 years of accounting experience, preferably with US accounting exposure.

Previous experience in insurance accounting, insurance brokerage, or a related financial services environment is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of US GAAP.

Hands-on experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations, AP/AR, accruals, and month-end close.

Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and management reports.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Comfortable communicating with US-based clients and stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
