Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Accounting Specialist to support our On Your Lot (OYL) division. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of accounting, project management, and customer interaction—managing project-level financial tracking, facilitating bank draw schedules, maintaining percentage of completion (POC) reporting, and working closely with homebuyers, field staff, lenders, and internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth project execution from start to closeout.

What you’ll do

• Monthly cost reporting to all of our On Your Lot (OYL) Home owners, including auditing files against up-to-date contract files and sending monthly cost updates.
• Coordinate OYL Bank Draws for every home under construction, ensuring funding requests are timely and accurate.
• Monitor buyer deposits for homes not started, ensuring compliance with the deposit schedule laid out in sales contracts.
• Track accounts payables for the OYL entities and formulate the escalated payment list twice monthly.
• Review General Ledger transactions, flagging unknown expenses and ensuring correct allocations.
• Maintain the Percentage of Completion (POC) file for accurate sales pricing, estimates, and monthly billings.
• Track monthly accruals and monitor settled house spending against accruals.
• Reconcile Key Exchange forms against the POC file to ensure accurate reporting.
• Complete POC month-end adjustments and schedules in FloQast for accounting manager review.
• Perform all accounting closeouts with buyers and return any open escrows in a timely manner.
• Maintain bond reports for OYL and push the team to have those bonds released.
• Coordinate with Sales Staff to ensure homebuyers' deposits and lender mobilization payments cover initial costs.
• Complete any application required from a new lender, if approved by the President.
• Ensure all new lenders meet minimum bank requirements before completing applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Accountant, Cost Accountant, or Financial Analyst handling project cost tracking, budgets, cash flow, and financial reconciliations for US-based real estate, construction, or homebuilding companies.
• Solid understanding of project-based financial reporting concepts, including Percentage of Completion (POC), job costing, gross margin analysis, and over/under billings.
• Strong analytical capability with a critical eye for data integrity.
• Excellent, proactive English verbal and written communication skills (CEFR B2 upper-intermediate level or higher).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Highly proactive, collaborative, and self-directed mindset suited for a remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in the residential home building, construction, or real estate development sector.
• Familiarity or experience with ERP systems such as MarkSystems (ECi), or similar enterprise platforms.
• Exposure to FloQast close management software or Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate).
