Role Description
As an Underwriting Specialist at Oxford Risk Management Group, you will be required to execute critical thinking and should have strong communication skills, a high level of organization, the ability to multitask often, and be able to consistently provide world-class customer service to our clients. The Underwriting Specialist must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community oriented. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance programs, including Commercial Property, Auto, General Liability, and GAP Coverage, and the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations.

Analyze Property & Casualty insurance policies for completion and to identify gaps in coverage.

Analyze loss runs and claims history and propose appropriate underwriting terms, conditions, and risk mitigation recommendations.

Complete commercial policy intake forms and gather underwriting information related to P&C exposures.

Conduct underwriting calls with clients to discuss uninsured or underinsured risks and obtain appropriate data for actuarial pricing.

Review policy renewal information, develop and underwrite a renewal position, and provide a quote summary with supporting documentation.

Submit case files for risk analysis reporting and actuarial pricing.

Review large amounts of information and raw data for accuracy and completeness.

Evaluate client exposures and recommend appropriate coverage enhancements.

Send underwriting documents to clients to support suggested eligible coverages.

Explain definitions and applications of Oxfordβs various lines of coverage.

Review and coordinate with the Claims Department for underwriting sign-off and claims trend analysis.

Maintain knowledge of industry trends, underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree required.

5+ years of underwriting experience required.

2+ years of experience reviewing and underwriting Property & Casualty insurance policies required.

P&C license or industry designation preferred.

Strong Property & Casualty background reviewing policies to ensure complete files.

Knowledge of underwriting principles related to Commercial Property, Commercial Auto, General Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, and GAP Coverage products.

Experience analyzing loss runs, claims trends, exposure data, and renewal information.

Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities.

Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.

Captive insurance experience is preferred.
