If you are passionate about underwriting and want to actively contribute to the transformation of the commercial insurance sector within a fast-growing company, we are looking for an Underwriter to join our team.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Underwriter's main duties include:

Risk analysis of files submitted by brokers.

Underwriting requests while ensuring that the quality of risks underwritten is adequate to achieve maximum profitability.

Determining the terms and pricing of risks.

Calling on the expertise of Team Specialists and/or product managers (PLM) when necessary.

Complying with established internal standards and procedures.

Obtaining authorization from the Team Leader and/or partner insurers following a referral when necessary.

Justifying reasons for risk refusals with succinct arguments.
Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years of commercial insurance experience (SME).

Focus on Property underwriting in the Realty segment is an asset.

AEC, DEC or insurance broker's license is an asset.

CRM, CIP, FCIP is an asset.

Adaptability and flexibility in the face of change.

Good communication skills.

Excellent negotiation skills.

Requirements

Liaise between brokers and insurers to negotiate and determine insurance terms and conditions.

Develop, underwrite and service new business in accordance with the guidelines of the various programs and contracts or as a wholesaler.

Collaborate with colleagues on current and future opportunities.

Verify and master insurance policies, wordings and standards.
-
Confirm and approve that underwriting standards reflect contracts and meet program needs.

Review inspections and recommendations.

Work with underwriters on contracts and underwriting standards.

Assist the team in charge of renewals, according to needs.

Initiate and maintain a privileged relationship with brokers by offering them top-quality service.

Represent the company at industry events, as required.

Develop business relationships with existing and new brokers through marketing visits.

Analyze requests for amendments by endorsement, rate them if necessary based on the content of the request, and provide instructions to underwriting assistants.

Review and approve policy cancellations submitted by underwriting assistants.
