Role Description

This position reports directly to the Director of Planned Giving and Trust Services (PGTS) and assists with responsibilities in the PGTS Department. The Trust Officer serves by building quality relationships with donors and potential donors, communicating to them the organization’s vision and mission so they can participate in funding its evangelistic goals. This will mean representing and effectively communicating planned gifts and trust services for the ministry at events, meetings, and with individual donors. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• North American Division Trust Services Certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain certification within two (2) years of initial employment.
• Annual continuing education is required to maintain certification.
• Planned giving and trust service experience is preferred.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of professional work experience is required.
• Embrace the mission and values of It Is Written and be a member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Requirements

• Perform Trust Officer responsibilities in the North Central Region for It Is Written.
• Field representative at functions and with individual donors.
• Assist donors with planned gifts, including but not limited to cash, non-cash gifts, gift annuities, life insurance gifts, wills, charitable trusts, and revocable trust plans.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with donors.
• Explain and assist donors with the planned giving program and processes.
• Work with office staff to follow through on the administrative recording and filing of the gift and/or estate plan.
• Initiate phone, email, hard-copy correspondence, and other contacts with donors on a consistent and regular basis.
• Plan to make, on average, 35 face-to-face visits per month.
• Maintain updated donor records and files.
• Complete reports that are required by the PGTS department or It Is Written.
• Participate in regularly scheduled phone/video meetings.
• Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
