[Hiring] Team Manager, Financial Crime @Monzo

Role Description

Are you interested in leading a team in financial crime prevention? Our EU Financial Crime Customer Operations team is at the heart of how we protect Monzo EU and our customers from financial crime like fraud and money laundering.

We’re looking for individuals with a blend of experience in preventing financial crime and team leadership to join our EU Financial Crime Operations team within our Fincrime Business Banking team.

Your team will consist of around 12 Financial Crime Investigators, and could be focused on a number of different tasks, including:

• Screening
• Transaction monitoring
• Account closures
• Escalations

As a Team Manager, you'll be responsible for:

• Managing the personal and professional development of your team members
• Providing technical coaching on financial crime tasks
• Driving exceptional individual and collective performance
• Guiding individuals through hard times and celebrating their successes
• Holding weekly meetings with team members to ensure everyone is informed, engaged, and performing in their role
• Aggregating feedback from team meetings and feeding it into operational leadership
• Participating in hiring processes and acting as an interviewer

🔑 You’ll play a key role by:

• Conducting quality checks on senior financial crime investigators to drive performance and identify coaching opportunities
• Handling complex case escalations from senior financial crime investigators
• Managing personal & professional development of a team of senior investigators
• Fostering a positive, supportive, and high performance culture in the team
• Chairing employee relations cases and making decisions consistent with Monzo’s values

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal communication skills)
• Strong experience of team leadership across Financial Crime within the financial services sector
• Proven ability to drive excellent performance through others
• Strong knowledge and experience in the financial sector
• Previous experience in carrying out financial crime investigations across Financial Crime Business Banking, Anti Money Laundering, or Screening
• Strong knowledge of the current financial crime landscape in the UK and the EU, and associated financial crime risks

Requirements

• The operating hours to be covered by the team will be 8am - 6.30pm based on 8.5 hours per day (with a 1 hour lunch included)
• Flexibility to meet customer demand, which could include infrequent weekend working
• Commitment to the first 8 weeks with no holidays/time off during this period
