Role Description
As a member of the tax team, the Tax Manager will work with a diverse client base and the primary responsibilities include:

Review tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates, trusts and research unusual tax matters.

Perform complex tax research for clients.

Review and respond to IRS notices.

Assist business partners with other financial aspects of business, taxes, financial strategy, etc.

Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals.

Participate in business development efforts, including but not limited to, meeting with prospective clients, preparing fee quotes and proposals, and evaluating clientsβ needs.

Identify and communicate creative ideas to improve client service, and entrepreneurial spirit to expand services with clients.

Be involved with professional organizations, conventions & conferences.

Participate in educational/training workshops for clients.

Facilitate in-house training.

Author a minimum of two update articles or blogs per year.

Develop prospective contacts and relationships beneficial to the Firm and turn them into business opportunities.

Punctually enter time and expenses to support efficient billing processes.

Participate in the firm recruiting program, developing a rapport with candidates.

Monitor and check staff performance levels, ensuring that work is carried out within set deadlines, budget, and quality standards.

Responsible for the development, coaching and training of all levels of staff.

Participate in reviews and evaluations of accounting professionals.

Demonstrate ability to plan and organize projects.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Taxation, Finance or other business related field; Master's degree preferred.

Active California CPA license required.

Five (5) to seven (7+) years tax experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in complexity, scope, preparing tax returns.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams) required.

Proficiency in CCH Access, SurePrep, BNA Tax Planner and QBO required.

Knowledge of Practice CS and PowerBi preferred.
Requirements

Minimum of two (2) yearsβ experience in a supervisory position.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $141,000.

All exempt positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus.
